Paxil Suicide Cases

Paxil Suicide Cases and Information. Call Today for a Consulatation.

Paxil is an antidepressant medication that was created by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline in 1992. In addition to being prescribed for depression, Paxil can also be prescribed for anxiety disorders. Since it’s release, it has become one of the most prescribed antidepressants on the market. However, its effectiveness has come into question due to the rising amount of Paxil suicide cases that have come up since its release.

A Paxil related suicide is a major risk for anyone currently taking the medication. Those who stop taking it cold turkey are at an even higher risk for falling subject to a number of harmful situations including suicide. A 2004 Paxil suicide cases study conducted in Britain, found patients taking Paxil were actually four times more likely to develop suicidal behaviors compared to a control group of participants who hadn’t taken this potentially dangerous SSRI antidepressant.

In late 2004, attorney Andy Vickery went before the FDA Advisory Committee and helped establish the truth behind Paxil suicide cases. As a result from his testimony and countless others, the FDA admitted that causality has been established between SSRI drugs like Zoloft, Paxil and Prozac in pediatric suicides. By a vote of 15-8, black box warnings will be placed on the labels of these and other antidepressants.
