about jason

Jason started his legal career in the Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he practiced exclusively in military and federal court for nearly a decade.  During his time on active duty, Jason prosecuted and represented clients in all manner of cases, ranging from mail fraud to capital murder.

After leaving active duty, Jason began work with the University of Houston, where he still serves as Director of the Military Justice Clinic and teaches military criminal law.  Prior to joining Vickery and Shepherd, Jason spent 4 years focusing exclusively on criminal defense in Texas, serving as an assistant public defender in Harris County and as a habeas corpus staff attorney for The Forensic Project in Travis County.

For me it’s easy, focus on my clients and their interests – treat them like family and always give them clear eyed advice and counsel.  I do not rest until everything that can be done for them, has been done for them.

Jason’s passions are his family, his criminal defense practice, and continuing to serve the uniformed men and women of our Nation’s military.  He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve.
